In the Fretboard Journal‘s 48th issue (now mailing), Bob Minner tells the story behind “Frankie,” the 1936 Martin D-18 he recently acquired.
Since Bob was first introduced to the magic of a ’30s D-18s via Norman Blake (and Blake’s wildly influential Whiskey Before Breakfast album), he decided to pay tribute to his guitar hero by playing “Fiddler’s Dram / Whiskey Before Breakfast” on “Frankie”… just for our readers. Bob has also just released an entire EP featuring Frankie; nab it here.
