On April 8, 2011, we sat down with the Yonder Mountain String Band before their sold-out gig at Seattle’s Showbox Theater. Fans of the band may remember that we chronicled the story of mandolinist Jeff Austin and his Nugget mandolin in the Fretboard Journal #18.

At the end of our interview (posted here), the group played two tunes for us, including this previously unreleased song entitled “Rag Doll.” YMSB’s Jeff Austin points out early on in the tune that it was co-written between him and banjo great Danny Barnes.

Austin is playing his Nugget mandolin in this clip; bass player Ben Kaufmann is using an Eminence bass by Gary Bartig; Dave Johnston is playing a Stealth banjo; and guitarist Adam Aijala is playing a Collings D1.
