How does one of the most famed bluegrass ensembles of all-time celebrate four decades of playing? By recording another album, of course. Hot Rize 40th Anniversary Bash captures three sold-out shows at Colorado’s Boulder Theater, where the band is joined by special guests Stuart Duncan, Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush.

The Fretboard Journal is proud to premiere this video of “Out on the Ocean” from those concerts, where Tim O’Brien and Bush share some otherworldly harmonies (and plenty of great playing).
