Joe Henry performs “Civil War” at the Fretboard Journal. This tune was originally found on his 2007 album, Civilians. More recently, Joan Baez covered it on her 2018 album, Whistle Down the Wind, which was produced by Henry.

On this tune, Henry is playing his ’30s 14-fret Gibson L-00. Henry discussed this guitar (and his other ’30s Gibsons) in the Fretboard Journal #26. Beyond that, Henry penned a feature story in the FJ on pedal steel guitar whiz Greg Leisz (Fretboard Journal #33) and appeared at our first-ever Fretboard Summit.
