Stringed instrument wizard David Lindley has appeared in the pages of our magazine multiple times, having been featured on the cover of issue 11 (interviewed by Ben Harper) and conducting his own interview in issue 19 with the late, great Armenian oud maestro John Bilezikjian.
When Lindley came by the Fretboard Journal offices in December 2014, we decided to throw him a curveball and hand him a six-string guitar he hadn’t seen before, a 2010 Wayne Henderson 000-28. Lindley launched into this cover of Warren Zevon’s “Indifference of Heaven.” While no one will ever accuse Mr. Dave of being a traditional folk singer, it’s a restrained take (by his standards) on this beautiful song.
Despite his ability to play virtually anything with strings on it, Lindley gets a little off-kilter towards the very end of this tune (sorry, kids). Look for another video from this shoot (this one featuring Lindley on a Gibson trapdoor tenor banjo) coming soon to our site.
