It’s hard to believe, but Fredericksburg, Virginia’s Daniel Bachman took up the guitar just five years ago. Heavily influenced by fingerstyle virtuosos such as Jack Rose, Leo Kottke, John Fahey and Robbie Basho, Bachman has already released three full-length albums.
Here, he performs “Honeysuckle Reel” at the Fretboard Journal offices on his main guitar, a Guild D-55.
“It starts with a lick,” Bachman says of his songwriting. “And then I just work on it, just play in the tuning around that and build it until it’s like it should be.” Bachman’s latest full-length album is entitled Seven Pines (Tompkins Square). You can order it via Amazon here.
