To say that Amy Helm had a musical upbringing is an understatement: Her father was the late, great Levon Helm of the Band, her mother is singer-songwriter Libby Titus and her step-father is none other than Donald Fagan of Steely Dan. Over the years, Amy has honed her craft – and her amazing vocals – as a member of Ollabelle and in the Levon Helm Band and the Midnight Ramble Band. She now has one solo album under her belt and a recently recorded forthcoming album for 2018 (produced by Joe Henry). For this session at the Fretboard Journal, Helm performs her previously unreleased tune “Cotton & the Cane” with two of her bandmates, guitarists Mark Marshall and Adam Minkhoff.
