Today, Eric Clapton released the lineup of his 2013 Crossroads Festival, which will take place in New York’s Madison Square Garden on April 12-13. The performers include some of the biggest names in the world of music, including the Allman Brothers Band, BB King, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Los Lobos, Robbie Robertson and many other legends. But what we love was the one non-household name that popped out: Blake Mills. This twentysomething guitarist (who as a kid learned from Bob Brozman before becoming a stellar singer-songwriter and session guitarist) has to be one of the most impressive young musicians we’ve ever met. We did a podcast with Blake last year, where he told us about working for Kid Rock and Lucinda Williams. We also shot some video of Mills performing one of his original tunes here. It’s nice to know that Clapton has his ears tuned to guys like Blake who haven’t hit it big yet but are about to.
