Hi. I am not sure if I am in the right place or if you can help me, but i'll try anyways. My friend and i are making a 7-tet guitar soon (7 semi-tones bewteen octaves) and I was wondering if you have ever made anything like this, and if you could help me with tuning. Thanks

"Frender Stratocaster"! Thompson seemed to find that amusing anyway.

The interview is a music journalist called David Hepworth - see http://www.davidhepworth.com/ - he used to be one of the presenters on the BBC's "Whistle Test" (which was a slightly re-titled re-formatted latter-day version of the now legendary "Old Grey Whistle Test"). I think this clip comes from that programme - I certainly remember seeing it when originally broadcast.

In one programme they had Robert Plant as a studio guest who was commenting on a video clip they had just played (I want to say it was REM, but I don't rightly remember) saying "Wasn't that a fantastic sound from that Gibson?" and Hepworth came back with "I don't know, I wouldn't know a Gibson if you held one up in front of me."

I was stunned that a music journalist who by his very trade would be so immersed in all things musical could be so ignorant of this area of music making and couldn't recognize the tools of the trade.
