Fender acquires Kaman Music Corporation

Breaking news… In a just announced press release, Fender Musical Instruments Corp. has announced that it will acquire Kaman Music for approximately $117 million in cash. Fender, of course, owns the Fender Guitars brand as well as Squire, Tacoma, Guild, Jackson, Charvel and others. Kaman is the owner of Ovation Guitars, Hamer, Genz Benz Amplification and Gibraltar Hardware.

Wow, that is a massive acquisition! Kaman also own Takamine guitars too of which I am a proud owner, but to take on Hamer, Genz Benz and Ovation into their fold is huge!

Fender must have been jealous of how awesome the plastic backs of Ovation guitars sound compared to the plastic backs of the Squier Stratacoustics and they wanted to get in on that highly desirable technology. Either that or they wanted to work with Rick Neilsen more.
