Spinal Tap is getting back together for the Live Earth show in England on July 7. In keeping with the ethos of the event, they’ve written a song about global warming entitled “Warmer Than Hell.” I wonder what it will take to get the Folksmen back together?-MJS

Guitarist Huey Long is planning to celebrate his 103rd birthday by performing a concert, just like he celebrated his 102nd birthday last year. That makes banjo picker Wade Mainer, who just turned 100, seem like a young whippersnapper. -MJS

PCL Linkdump has done us all a favor and gathered together a bunch of YouTube clips from Pete Seeger’s old Rainbow Quest TV show. There are loads of great old-time musicians here like banjo picker Roscoe Holcomb, dulcimer legend Jean Ritchie and Missisippi John Hurt as well as contemporary players like Johhny Cash, Richard and Mimi Farina, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Judy Collins. The mix of players led to some interesting shows. Did you know that Donovan and Gary Davis appeard on the same episode?-MJS

I’m sure the brewers at Grolsch didn’t intend this, but it turns out you can use the washers on the fancy fliptop lid as DIY straplocks. For details, head on over to the Play Like A Girl blog.-MJS
